Musicreative ™ . . .

Musicreative™ is a unique music education method of Hug Music that blends techniques from music therapy into music instruction available for students with all abilities to learn how to play instruments. It aims to improve children’s musical skills, teach children how to play instruements. Because music instruction is customized to each student's unique needs and learning style, students also improve important life skills such as self-esteem, and motivation & ability to learn. This unique method was created by music educator and music therapist Kana Kamitsubo in 2008 and has been highly recognized in the fields. Instructors at Hug Music are trianed with this method and suprevised by the director, Kana Kamitsubo.

Musicreative™ is music lesson,but not music therapy. While music therapy is a form of treatment that solely focuses on improving clients' non-musical goals such as social and cognitive skills, Musicreative™ program is a music class that students learn music theory, singing, and how to play instruments. Music Therapy . . .

Music Therapy is the fun-based music therapy program designed for children with special needs. Students are invited to actively participate in on-going and spontaneous music making with a board certified music therapist (MT-BC). Students will be encouraged to sing, play various instruments, and/or even compose their original music. There is no former music experience required. Based on clinical goals for each individual, music therapist designs the contents of the session and assists the student’s unique musical expression and helps him/her establish and develop therapeutic relationship.

Social Skills Group . . . (currently not offered)

Social Skills Group is a great way for children to experience the power of music, learn social skills, and improve their communication skills through enjoyable and success-oriented music activities with their peers.(Currently not offered)

Hug Music hosts an annual music recital for students.
